Giovanna Elia is an Italian-American photographer who will be receiving her BFA in photography from the Rhode Island School of Design later this spring. Based in Miami and Rome, Elia is heavily influenced by her upbringing in an Italian/Brazilian household as well as her passion for travel, the culinary world, and music culture. Her most recent work, made in Italy just before the outbreak of the coronavirus, photographically represents everyday scenes in an attempt to understand, reveal and celebrate the Italian identity and its complex balance between modernity and tradition.
